  2. August 31 — Winds strengthen within the depression stage

    By August 31, Edouard’s winds had risen to 56 km/h, with gusts of 64 km/h. Pressure remained near 1,012 mb. The system moved west and southwest early in the day before turning toward the northwest by the evening reading.

  3. September 1 — Edouard becomes a tropical storm

    Edouard reached tropical-storm strength at 00:00 UTC, with winds of 65 km/h, gusts of 75 km/h and pressure of 1,008 mb. The reading placed Edouard 228 km SW of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, moving northwest at 11 km/h.
