Live rain radar for Trang, 5-min updates. Track northeast monsoon fronts before they cancel Koh Libong ferries or close your rubber tapping window. Free.
Trang sits in a dual-monsoon exposure zone on the lower peninsula. The southwest monsoon brings rain from May to September off the Andaman side, and then the northeast monsoon takes over from October to January with sustained heavy events that are more intense and persistent. The result is one of the longer annual rain windows in Thailand, with a genuine dry season lasting only from February to April.
The Trang islands — Koh Libong, Koh Muk, Koh Kradan — are reached by ferry from Hat Yai Pier and other departure points. During northeast monsoon events, sea conditions deteriorate and ferry services are suspended, stranding both tourists and island residents.
RainViewer combines southern Thailand coastal radar for Trang. From here, you can track rain in Satun, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and offshore sea areas.
Primary and most intense rain season, multi-day events from November through January.
Secondary wet season from the Andaman side.
The shortest reliable dry window.
The Koh Libong and Koh Muk crossings are short but exposed. Checking the radar before driving to the pier avoids a wasted trip.
Tapping before rain arrives, monitoring the system for breaks, checking the radar before dawn.
The radar shows whether an offshore cell will reach the coast before morning activities complete.
Every 5 minutes. During northeast monsoon events, the near-real-time update lets you track whether a break is forming.
February through April is the quietest period — shorter and less reliable than most of central Thailand's dry season.
